Discovering the French butter keeper has been nothing less than a revelation for us. The unique design of this dish keeps butter fresh and at the perfect spreading consistency. No more slice of bread ruined with hard butter. With this little dish, you know it will be perfect at all times. Once you’ve adopted it, you won’t be able to go back to a regular butter dish.
This one handmade in Montreal is my favourite, with its elegant and modern design.

- White ceramic jar with speckled corian lid
- Dimensions: 11.5 cm (4.5”) diameter x 6.5cm (2.5”) height. Can contain 16 oz.
HOW TO USE:
Fill the square shaped lid with softened butter, pressing well to make sure no air is coming through. Pour about 1 inch (2.5 cm) of cold water into the base of the other (larger) container. Put the lid upside down in the water-filled container. This will create a seal that will keep the oxygen away, preventing the butter from getting rancid. To preserve its freshness, change water every 2 to 3 days. Avoid placing near a heat source or in direct sunlight.
